As we launch our 2015 Milwaukee Sustainability Roundtable  season, it is appropriate to look back on first year.  2014 was an amazing year of programs, connections, and opportunities.  2015 will be even better.  Join Us.

Six Amazing Conversations

We are all about dialogue and learning so we have made a point to bring in industry experts and leaders to be conversation starters.   Everyone in the room is an expert and the conversation starters have given us a launchpad to learn from eachother.

Q1 2014 We launched with the People Side of Sustainability – reframing our thinking from volunteerism and engagement to valued critical resource, beginning with Chris Jarvis‘ talk on Transformative Value. Jeffrey Joerres , CEO of ManpowerGroup, then stole the show with surprise visit and strategic look at Talent Sustainability.

Q2 2014 Two great conversations on Waste, Zero Waste, and By-product synergy. First with Andy Mangan of the USBCSD talking about regional collaborative efforts to find synergies in our waste streams. Second with a stellar virtual conversation with Michelle Long of Subaru of Indiana Automotive on their Journey to Sustainability (contact us for  password to watch the session)

Q3 2014 August brought a wake up call with Sustainability and the CFO: Speaking the Language of Finance. Our guest, Charter Financial Analyst, Bill McGinnis gave us tough love in spelling out specifically what we need to learn, why we need to learn it, and challenged us to step up our game to have a greater impact in our organizations with sustainability.  It was clear that  speaking the language of finance is a perennial concern so we will continue to bring finance lessons and resources to our members.

In September we had another special virtual session, this time with Tom Eggert of the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council to explore the State of Sustainability in Wisconsin (contact us for  password to watch the session)

Q4 2014 Our final conversation starter for the year was a real treat – the former US/Canada Director for the GRI, Mike Wallace who is now with BrownFlynn. We explored the newest trends in reporting and frameworks and what shareholders are now comparing and asking of corporations. Interesting stuff and a mountain of current research out our fingertips. Bonus Member Resources

Beyond the quarterly supply of background material on the quarter’s topic, in 2014 we were able to provide for our members additional resources through the MSR Resource Repository website and two great books

Milwaukee Sustainability Roundtable Resource Repository – a members only resource with contact database for the entire network of sustainability leaders in SEWisconsin,  archived presentation, support material, research, and opportunities.

Books:  We were able to share with members two great books.
